Freelance Developer in LATAM
I'm Ignacio (IGNAX), a senior freelance full-stack developer based in Asunción, Paraguay. This page is for US-East founders looking for timezone-aligned LATAM nearshore talent — same working day, full overlap, no handoff lag. Spain-born, five-plus years shipping production software, bilingual EN/ES.
Who am I?
I trained as a developer in Spain, freelanced for three years in London building websites and SEO, then joined a Web3 startup as full-stack + AI dev. Independent again since 2024, based in Paraguay, working with founders in the US, UK, Spain, and across LATAM. Short version: Spain-born, Paraguay-based, ships code that works.
What can I build?
- SaaS MVPs — production-ready end-to-end builds in two to six weeks. SvelteKit or React on the front, Node or Python on the back, Postgres, Stripe, OpenAI. See SaaS MVP service.
- AI automation — Python workers replacing manual back-office work. One to four weeks. See AI automation.
- SEO + AEO setup — schema, llms.txt, IndexNow, FAQ blocks, hreflang. Five to ten days. See SEO + AEO setup.
- Blockchain — Solidity on EVM chains, Solana with Anchor when the project calls for it.
- White-label subcontracting for agencies under NDA. Senior LATAM capacity for US-East-aligned teams.
Why work with a Paraguay-based developer?
For US-East founders, LATAM is the cleanest nearshore region. Paraguay is the cleanest base inside LATAM. Here's why:
- Full US-East workday overlap. GMT-3 maps to a 9-to-5 EST-equivalent workday. Stand-ups, reviews, demos — all in normal hours on both sides. India is two hours of overlap at best; Eastern Europe loses you the afternoon.
- No DST drift. Paraguay holds GMT-3 year-round. Argentina, Chile, and Mexico shift DST on three different schedules, which can break a recurring overlap. Paraguay does not.
- Native Spanish + business English. Spain-born, three years working in London. If your users or team are bilingual, you get one developer covering both.
- Cost band. Roughly half the rate of an equivalent US senior. The gap is cost of living in Asunción, not junior-as-senior staffing.
- Cultural fit. Spain background plus London exposure plus current LATAM base means founder-English, not translated-English. Async-first, clear specs, fewer meetings.
For LATAM nearshore context from a US-buyer perspective, Nearshore Americas industry coverage is the canonical source. For working with distributed teams in this register, GitLab's All-Remote Handbook sets the bar.
What does pricing look like?
Hourly band: $40–$70 USD/hr. Project bands:
- SaaS MVPs: $3,000–$15,000 USD
- AI automation: $2,000–$10,000 USD
- SEO + AEO setup: $1,800–$4,500 USD
Payment in USD via Wise, Stripe, or international wire. NET-14 by default, milestones for projects above $5K. No agency markup, no account-manager layer. See individual service pages for full breakdowns.
How do we get started?
Email [email protected] with a one-paragraph project description and the rough budget band. I reply within one business day. If it looks like a fit, we run a free 30-minute discovery call — no slides, no upsells. You get a one-page spec plus a fixed quote within 48 hours of the call.
Working hours: Mon–Fri, 8:00–17:00 PYT (GMT-3). Weekends off. Overlap with US East 7:00–16:00 EST, with Madrid 13:00–22:00 CET.

What does the engagement actually look like?
Most engagements follow the same shape. First week: discovery call, one-page spec, fixed quote. Week two onward: daily commits to your GitHub repo, end-of-week Loom video, async Slack throughout the day. No standups unless you want them. No agency project manager translating between you and the developer. You talk to me, I write the code.
For founders new to LATAM nearshore, the biggest adjustment is async-first communication. Decisions land in Slack threads or Linear comments, not in meetings. Specs are written before code, not after. Loom replaces most demos. Once the team adjusts to that rhythm, throughput goes up and meeting load goes down — which is the entire reason to hire a senior independent contractor over a junior in-house developer.

Frequently asked questions
Why hire from LATAM instead of an offshore option like India or Eastern Europe?
Timezone is the difference. India is GMT+5:30 — overlap with US East is two or three hours, end of day. Eastern Europe is GMT+1 to GMT+3 — overlap with US East is the European afternoon, fading by 14:00 EST. LATAM on GMT-3 gives you a full US-East workday overlap, every day. Cost band is competitive with both and language is fluent in EN and native in ES.
What does GMT-3 overlap with US East look like in practice?
My working day is 8:00–17:00 PYT (GMT-3). That maps to 7:00–16:00 EST and 4:00–13:00 PST. A US-East team gets a developer who is online when they are, every weekday. Stand-ups at 9:00 EST, code review at 14:00 EST, end-of-day Slack at 16:30 EST — all in normal working hours on both sides.
Are you in Paraguay specifically or LATAM generally?
Paraguay specifically — Asunción. Paraguay is GMT-3 year-round with no DST shuffle, which matters more than most realize: Argentina, Chile, and Mexico all change DST on different schedules, which can break a recurring US-East overlap twice a year. Paraguay does not. It's the most timezone-stable base in LATAM for US clients.
What kind of work do you take on?
SaaS MVPs (two to six weeks, $3K–$15K), AI automation pipelines (one to four weeks, $2K–$10K), and SEO + AEO setups (five to ten days, $1.8K–$4.5K). Also white-label subcontracting for agencies needing senior LATAM capacity under NDA. Stack-wise: SvelteKit, React, Node, Python, Postgres, Cloudflare, Stripe, OpenAI, Anthropic, Solidity, Solana.
How do contracts and payments work across borders?
Plain-English MSA + SOW templates, your jurisdiction or mine, your call. Payment in USD via Wise, Stripe, or international wire. Net 14 by default, milestones for projects above $5K. NDA on request — I work under client NDAs regularly for white-label engagements with US and UK agencies. No middleman markup.
Is your English good enough to lead client calls?
Yes. Three years freelancing in London plus an additional five years working with English-speaking clients globally. I lead discovery calls, write specs, run client demos, and handle async Slack/Linear/GitHub in English. Spanish is native (Spain-born) — useful if your team or users are bilingual or Spanish-speaking, but English is the default working language.
